Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 29, 1999.

The pale with the black pillar is taken from the arms of the Zenge family, who acquired the village in 1404 and did a lot for the development of the area. The two beech branches refer to the forests in the municipality and especially the Hainich National park.
