Origin/meaning

The arms were designed and adopted in 1898.

The arms show the bordure of the arms of the Princes of Fürstenberg, with a wheel, taken from the arms of the Lords of Neueostein. The latter acquired the village in 1783 from the Lords of Schellenberg. They sold the village already the same year to Fürstenberg.

In the 19th century the village used a seal with a garb, which was a symbol for the agricultural character of the village.

In 1935 the village wanted to change the arms, as the Lords of Schellenberg ruled the village from 1485-1783 and thus their arms should be part of the arms and not those of the Lords of Neueostein, who only ruled for a few months.

The State Archives thus proposed new arms, which were adopted in 1935. The arms were identical to those of Mundelfingen though.

The arms also immediately appeared on the seal of the village, surrounded by the text X Gemeinde X Hausen vor Wald X, but instead of a cross, the X showed a small swastika. As this was not considered appropriate anymore in 1945, the municipality used again the old seal from 1898. Which showed the arms with the wheel. These thus remained in use until 1972, but were never officially re-granted. The arms from 1935 were thus officially valid until 1972 !
