State : São Paulo

Iporanga.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 10, 1984.

The eagle is a symbol of victory and represents the achievement of the founders of the village in the year 1576, after many clashes with th elocal Indians. The base represents the Paranapiacaba range and the small wavy bar symbolises the Iporanga river. The sun in the chief symbolises the colonisation and the birth of the village.

The shield is flanked by bean and corn branches, the main crops in the region.
