KAUSTINEN

Region : Keski-Pohjanmaa
Former province : 1997-2009 Länsi-Suomi (until 1997 Vaasa)

Kaustinen Kuntavaakuna / Kommunvapen

Official blazon

Sinisessä kultaisin naularistein sirotellussa kentässä vastapalkeittain asetettu kultainen viulu.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 25, 1950.

The arms show a violin as a symbol for the local musical tradition, which has always been very strong. The many small crosses symbolise the Kuorikoski family, which originated from the village. Several members of the family were architects, specialised in building churches.
