Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 11, 1957.

The arms show a butterfly and two pine trees. The town developed in the late 19th century as a centre of wood industry. The reason was that due to a pest of the Nonnenschmetterling (a type of butterfly), the forests had to be cleared. To process all the wood a factory was established, and a village developed. Hence the use of the butterfly in the arms. The pine trees also reflect the many forests in the municipality.
