Wappen von Kleinlinden/Arms of Kleinlinden
Official blazon
German
English

Origin/meaning

The municipality (probably) never had arms. The above arms were designed for the 750th anniversary of the village in 2019.

When in 2018 the search for a village arms started, a document with maybe the old village arms was found, see image below. These were, however, not listed in the HEssisches Wappenbuch from 1955 and no record of a grant could be found. It is thus not sure whether the arms were ever granted or used by the former municipality.

The village council decided not to use the old design, as it showed symbols of mining. which in reality did not happen in the village. The council wanted three elements in the design; a canting linden branch or leaf, a bread shovel (Backschiesser, the nickname of the villagers), both were also seen in the old arms, and a reference to Giessen.

Three designs were made, of which the third was selected as village arms. The first combined the shovels with the lion of Giessen and in base a linden leaf, the second had no reference to Giessen, but showed in the base a sculpture from the local church. The final arms shows the shovels, a linden branch, the arms of Giessen and a blue river for the Lahn river.
