Arms of Lejre

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 17, 2007.

The three waves symbolise the three former municipalities, merged in 2007.

Until 2007, the municipality used the arms below, registered in 1980.

The arms show three shields, a canting element for the Skjoldunger family (Skjold=shield), Denmarks medieval royal family. King Harald Bluetooth built a stronghold in Lejre to establish his rule over Sjælland. The blue pale represents the rond from Roskilde to Lejre.
