Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The three intelaced chevronels forming a net end together with the grapnel, symbolises the retrieval and immobilisation of the enemy mines. The two horns refer to the ships role as a hunter and the number reflect that there have been two ships named Sentry. The stars encircling the mine symbolises the six Battle Stars awarded the USS Sentry (AM 299) for World War II service. The red mine symbolises the rising sun of Japan and the major contribution made by USS Sentry to the naval operations in the Pacific during World War II. The sealion symbolises participation in operations off the Philippines.
