Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on December 4, 2020.

The deer's head and the cross are symbols for Saint Hubert and with the mill irons are canting elements (moulin=mill). The deer also symbolises that a priory, attached to the Abbey of Saint-Hubert (Belgium), was founded in Moulins in the 10th century by the Count of Chiny.

The cross is shown as the cross of the arms of the Duchy of Bar, to which the area belonged from 1648 to 1791.

The eight-pointed star refers to the six-pointed star of brewers, symbolizing the three elements (air, water and fire) and the three operations (germination, saccharification, fermentation). Here, two additional points are added for the basic products: barley and hops. It refers to the fact that two breweries once operated in the locality.

The vines illustrate the vineyards of the Moulins area (40 to 45 ha) until the end of the 19th century.
