NO 14 SOFTWARE ENGINEERING SQUADRON, ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE

Coat of arms (crest) of the No 14 Software Engineering Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force

Official blazon

Badge: Argent a hurt overall a snowy owl contourné perched on a scroll, its spindle proper, ribbonned Vert.
Motto: Petere cum sapientia = To seek with wisdom

Origin/meaning

The blue disc alludes to the Royal Canadian Air Force. The snowy owl is indigenous to the area where the squadron is based. Owls are also perceived to be wise and intelligent, two essential qualities for software engineers. The scroll represents a roll of computer paper, once commonly printed in green and white, and symbolizes the unit’s role in producing software. The badge was approved by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on 15 February 2012.
