History: Formed in July 1947 at Kinloss from the disbanded No 4 Operational Training Unit.

Origin/meaning

The Role of the Unit is to train Crews to Hunt (symbolised by the Hunting Horn) Submarines from above the Sea (indicated by the the Fountain). The Badge was granted in August 1950.
