NO 853 SQUADRON, FAA

History: First formed in 1943 at Naval Air Station Squantum, Massachusetts, USA as a Torpedo-Bomer-Reconnaissance Squadron with Grumman Avengers. Disbanded in 1945.

Origin/meaning

The Pegasus is the Emblem of the US Naval Aviation and alludes to the forming in the USA. the Avengeing Greek Warrior alludes to the Grumman Avenger Aricraf flown. The Badge was approved on 21 November 1944.
