OBER-ABTSTEINACH

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Bergstrasse
Incorporated into : 1972 Abtsteinach

Wappen von Ober-Abtsteinach/Arms (crest) of Ober-Abtsteinach
Official blazon
German In Rot über blauem Wellen-Schildfuß ein aus silbernen Felsen wachsender silberner Abtstab.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The crosier symbolises the Lorsch Abbey, to which the territory historically belonged, it was first mentioned as a possession in 1012. The base shows a canting Steinbach (stone-river). The stones also symbolise the Hardberg hill in the village, the highest point in the area.
