Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 8, 1965.
The arms are supposedly canting. The name Osterath means 'cleared land in the East', as the area was settled from Willich, West of present Osterath. The arms thus show agricultural tools for the clearing of the land, and a sun symbolising East.
