Origin/meaning

The star is Mary, the vision, the hope. The temple is faith, a symbol of the Church, also a reminder of the University (among others the University of Ottawa where the bishop was baptized and ordained and which was founded by the Oblates), importance of theology and intelligence of the faith. The temple is also a symbol of the Basilica which is an important place but must also be relativized because the real Temple of the Spirit is our heart.

The tree is an olive tree, a symbol of peace.

Both symbols, the temple and the olive tree are symbols of the Church and both are canting; the temple, made of stones (pierres), and the olive tree, refer to the name Pierre-Olivier.
