  • (en) On a black background a shield, bordered orange, enclosing a design of a kudu saliant, in orange, issuing from an orange crown which contains five gems, coloured red and green alternately. Below the shield is a scroll in orange bearing the motto ESSE QUAM VIDERI in black.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 7, 1945.

The demi-kudu in the arms is taken from the crest of the arms of Queenstown. Its motto is Esse Quam Videri (To be, rather than to seem to be).
