Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 27, 1618 by Margrave Joachim Ernst von Brandenburg-Ansbach.

These arms lacked the red lower part of the shield, but showed a quartered field of black and silver. The arms were held by an angel as supporter.

The arms were in use until November 6, 1857, when the arms were re-granted by King Maximilian II. At that time the angel was omitted and the red colour added. The arms are the arms of the Hohenzollern family (background) and a rye sheaf as a canting symbol (Roggen).

Currently the municipality uses the arms again with a supporter.
