RAF STATION BUTTERWORTH, ROYAL AIR FORCE

History: Formed on May 7, 1941. In 1957 it was transferred to the Royal Australian Air Force and on June 30, 1988 to the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

Official blazon

In front of a kris argent in bend point upwards a hornet proper.
Motto: Sarang serta sengat = The nest with the sting.

Origin/meaning

The Hornet is believed to be the most aggresive insect common to Malaya and therefore it alludes to the possible spirit of the Station. The Kris a local Sword is indicative of the location of the Station to Malaya. Literature: Image from Pinterest.
