Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 5, 1970.

Historically two families owned most of the area in loan from the Margraves of Brandenburg. These were the Feilitzsch and Reitzenstein families. The bend in the upper part of the arms is taken from the arms of the Von Reitzenstein family, whereas the silver and red lower half is taken from the Feilitzsch family. Since medieval times there were many potteries in the village, which is symbolised by the bowl in the lower half. In the early 20th century a textile factory was established, which is symbolised by the spindle in the upper half of the arms.

Literature: Stadler, 1990.
