Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 25, 1973 and confirmed on February 2, 1982.

The arms are derived from the arms of the Rotselaar family and the oldest known use is by Gerard van Rotselaar, on a seal dating from 1272. The seals of the council of Rotselaar are known since the 14th century and have always shown three shortened fleur-de-lis. The arms are also used by Haacht, which was another possession of the family.
