Escudo de vermelho, um monte cosido de negro saínte de um pé de água de cinco faixetas ondadas de prata e azul; brocante e em pala, um cajado e uma caldeira, tudo de ouro, acompanhado em chefe de duas cruzes da Ordem de Malta de prata. Coroa mural de prata de cinco torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro: “ CIDADE DE S. MAMEDE DE INFESTA “.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 22, 2002 and before on March 21, 1993. The only difference is the crown and the name on the banner.

The two crosses refer to the Leça chamber of the Orde rof Malta, who owned in medeval times most of the area, including the present parish of São Mamede de Infesta. The staaf and small kettle are symbols for pilgrims on the way to Santiago de Compostela, who passed the village.
