Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 31, 1937 and again on March 13, 1995.

The arms represent the territories to which parts of the county belonged in historical times. The first and fourth quarter show the arms of the diocese of Magdeburg, the second the lion of the county Wettin and the third quarter shows the arms of the county Landsberg.
