Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 9th April 1987.

The arms show an anvil, the attribute of St. Adrian, the local patron saint, that was martyred by dismembering with an axe over an anvil; the anvil also represents the industrial sector of the town, linked to the river Besòs, that bisects Sant Adrià; this river is symbolized by the wavy bar below the anvil. The baron's crown and bishop's staff remind that the town was the centre of the barony of Sant Adrià, owned by the bishops of Barcelona.
