SANT FELIU SASSERRA
Region : Catalonia
Province : Barcelona
Catalan | Escut caironat: d'atzur, una serra d'or amb la fulla d'argent; el peu d'or, 4 pals de gules. Per timbre una corona mural de poble. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
These arms have been officially granted on 24th October 1990.
Canting arms: they show a saw, because "serra" in Catalan means both "mountain range" (which is the real meaning of the name in Sasserra) and "saw". The royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four pales Gules on Or) remind the jurisdiction of the Crown over the Sots-vegueria (royal district) of Lluçanès, whose chief town was Sant Feliu Sasserra.
