SCHWALBACH AM TAUNUS

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Main-Taunus Kreis

Schwalba.jpg

Official blazon

In Gold ein aufrechter schwarzer Schwalbenschwanz, darüber ein sechsstrahliger roter Stern.

Origin/meaning

The arms show a swallow's tail as a canting element (Schwalbe=swallow). The symbol already appeared on the borderstones in 1725 and a bit later in the local seals. The star was added in 1804. The arms were finally officially granted in 1953.
