Shield: Or, an oak wreath Proper, overall a dagger in pale point up, blade and guard of the first, hand grip Sable, surmounted by a diagonally placed square Azure bearing a phoenix Gules displayed fimbriated Or, between in chief a mullet of the like and radiating from base two lightning flashes pilewise of the last.
Crest: None.
Motto: Avdere est facere (To dare is to do).

Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of an open gold oak wreath surmounted by a vertical dagger point up, black handgrip with a gold blade and hand guard surmounted by a diagonally placed blue square bearing in the middle a red phoenix displayed below a gold star and two lightning flashes radiating outward from base. Attached above by a black motto scroll inscribed "AVDERE EST FACERE" in gold.

Origin/meaning

Dark blue is the Colour traditionelly used by Infantry Units. The Dagger alludes to military Ability and Readiness, it also alludes to the Number One thus represneting the First Brigade. The Oake Wreath denotes protection, and combined with the Dagger it symbolises the Force Protection capabilities. The Diamond Shape is associated with Daring. The Phoenix signify rising to the action of training orgnaic units and supplying Administrative/Logistical Support. The Star indicates the Command and Control Function of the Unit. The Lightning Flashes symbolises Electronic Communication Function and gathering of Information.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit insignia, was both approved on 6 April 2005.
