Arms of Talsi (town)

Official blazon

Zelta laukā zaļu vainagu no kreisās puses tur dabiskas krāsas roka, kas izaug no zaļa kalna.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1925.

Talsi is first time mentioned in 1231. In the 14th or 15th century the Teutonic Order built a castle Talsen here. In the 17th century the town developed, but both castle and town were destroyed during the Northern war (1700-1721).

The town revived in the 19th century. In 1917 town rights were granted.
The arms show a wreath and hand to symbolize strength.
