THE ROYAL SCOTS GREYS (2ND DRAGOONS), BRITISH ARMY

History: Raised in 1678 as the Royal Regiment of Scots Dragoons, becoming in 1751 2nd Royal North British Dragoons. In 1971 amalgamated with the 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards), British Army to form The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys), British Army

Official blazon

An Eagle with outstreched wing and looking to its left, and with a wreath round it neck, standing on a tablet inscribed "Waterloo"; below the Eagle a scroll inscribed "Royal Scots Greys" The Eagle and tablet in silver plate and the title scroll in gilt or gilding metal. Cloth backing to badges, drak blue.

Origin/meaning

The French Imperial Eagle symbolises the one captured by the Regiment at the Battle of Waterloo 1815.
