THE SPECIAL AIR SERVICE REGIMENT, BRITISH ARMY

History: the earliest elements was formed in 1940 and was active in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Greece, the Adriatic, the Middle East and North West Europe during World War II. Reconstituted in 1947 and made a separate Regiment in 1950.

Official blazon

A vertical dagger, hilt uppermost, issuing upwards from immediately below the hilt, a pair of wings; across and in front of the lower portion of the dagger, a scroll inscribed "Who Dares Wins". The Dagger in ssilver plate and remainder in gilt. Other ranks as above but in white and gilding metals.
