THOMAS FRANCIS LITTLE

Origin/meaning

The shield is divided in three parts to symbolise the Holy Trinity. The red and black colours (top and base) are taken from the Essendon Football Club colours, of which the bishop was a great fan.

The top shows a Chi-Rho symbol on a blood-red moon.

The Bible is an obvious symbol for a bishop and for teaching/learning. On it is a special sowrd, representing the allegiance to the Pope. The point downwards symbolises peace. The praying men symbol indicates that he was ordained a bishop during an International Eucharistic Congress.

The star in base represents both the creation and Australia.
