The Dolphin is taken from the arms of [[Brighton]], as are the entwined dolphins on the crest, within another Saxon Crown .
 
The Dexter supporting Pelican carries a banner showing the Cinque Ports Lion and Ship symbol for [[Hastings]] in Sussex was the Senior Cinque Port.
