VP-5 MAD FOXES, US NAVY

History: Formed 2 January 1937 as VP-17F, VP-17(1st): 1 October 1937-1 July 1939, VP-42(1st): 1 July 1939–15 February 1943, VB-135: 15 February 1943-1 October 1944, VPB-135: 1 October 1944–15 May 1946, VP-135: 15 May 1946–15 November 1946, VP-ML-5: 15 November 1946-1 September 1948 and since that date VP-5 (second use of that designation).

Homeport: NAS Jacksonville, Florida
