Counties of Romania.
A total of 41 counties, along with the municipality of Bucharest, constitute the official administrative divisions of Romania.

From 1923-1940 the country (including present day [[Moldova]]) consisted of 71 counties. In 1945, the Communist Party changed the administrative model to that of the Soviet Union (regions and raions) in 1950, but changed it back in 1968. Since 1968 a few changes have been made until the current number of 41.

Included here are all (historical) counties in current Romania. Historical counties, now in Moldova, are listed under [[Moldova]].
