Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1949.

The arms show symbols for agriculture, forestry and mining.

The previous arms were granted on May 6, 1939 to the Schleusingen district:

The rooster on the hill is the arms of the former Henneberg County. The sword refers to the arms industry, specifically in the city of Suhl.
