+The town was founded by King Premysl Otakar II in 1262. In its seal and then also in its coat-of-arms, the town originally (the latest from the year 1350) used a winged, two legged dragon as it was jumping to the right with its head, on a long neck, turned to the left. Its tail was twisted down into a coil. On the 20th of October 1471, King Vladislav II improved this emblem by adding Saint George as he is slaying the dragon.
