In 1502 the seal of the city showed a lion with an anchor and star. The whole placed in a quadrilobe with an angel, two fish and the flint of Burgundy. The colours are known from a 17th century book. The arms were thus based on the seal, and in 1847 granted without the quadrilobe (see image below), which was corrected in 1964. | ||
