| The arms were granted March 27, 1837 by King Ludwig I.
| |

| The arms are based on the battle in the town in 1462. The city of Augsburg ruled the town, which was attacked by Duke Ludwig of Niederbayern-Landshut. The local tower (according to legend built by the Romans) was defended by only eight warriors, which is symbolised by the eight swords.
