Neuheim became a separate municipality in 1848 and adopted the arms with a linden tree in 1942. The linden tree is a common tree in the municipality, the base symbolises the landscape. The arms are probably based on the arms of [[Menzingen]], which shows three pine trees on a hill. Neuheim belonged to Menzingen until 1848.
From 1848-1942 the municipality did not have official arms, but used the arms of the Canton Zug with the addition of a letter N.
The linden tree is also often used as a symbol for a place of justice. For many years there has been in late medieval times a lower court in Neuheim, which makes the linden also an appropriate symbol.
