The oldest seal of the town dates from the early 18<sup>th</sup> century and shows St. John Baptist, the patron saint of the town as well as a small shield with the letters V and L. The meaning of the letters is unknown. In a later seal from the 19<sup>th</sup> century the letters were replaced by a sun.
