Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 29, 1999.
The golden throne is a canting element. The name Serreleis is derived from the Latin Sella and Rex, meaning Seat and King repsectively. This is shown by a royal throne.
The two flax flowers symbolise the importance of the manufacture of linen and embroidery in the municipality.
The barge symbolises the historical means of transport to the left bank of the river Lima. People, animals and cargo were tranported between the two sides as for a long the time there were no bridges over the river. These boats are still stationed, although disabled, in the "Boat Harbour". The wavy base symbolises the Lima river.
