Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on March 7, 2013.

The water represents both nearby rivers, the Loire and the Cisse. The hill is 'le Mont de Thibault', a local landmark which overlooks the Loire and where all many vineyards are located.

The sword and key represent the local patron saints, St. Peter and St. Paul and the snake is a reference to a local legend about a hermit who saved the town from a snake infestation in the 11th century.
