Arms (crest) of Kalundborg

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 7, 2006.

The arms are based on a seal known from 1421, which probably dates from around 1350. The arms show the famous church with five towers, which was built arouns 1170. The oldest seal, from the early 14th century is heavily damaged, but seems to show a wall as well.
All later seals and images have shown the same design.

The new arms (above) are a more stylised version of the true heraldic arms of the city (below). These arms were officially granted in 1938.
