WIELFRESEN

State : Steiermark
District : Deutschlandsberg

Wielfresen.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on June 11, 1979.

The arms consist of a broken St. Catherine's wheel and branches of birch. The latter charges are canting, "fresen" being an old word for "birches". The wheel is a reference to the old church St. Katharina in der Wiel.
