In the 1960s, the present Badia del Valles was developed by immigration from the South of Spain and divided in two municipalities - Barbera del Valles, and Cerdanyola del Valles. In 1994 the two villages were merged as Badia del Valles and the coat of arms was designed. The background shows the colours used by the two different municipalities. A swallow was used as a symbol of emigration.
