The area of Freigericht M&ouml;mbris was until 1500 part of the Royal Estates, which is symbolised by the Royal Crown. Since 1500 the area became gradually part of the [[Mainz (State)|State of Mainz]], which is symbolised by the wheel of [[Mainz]]. As the Freigericht (free-justice area) had its own court prior to 1500, the sword of justice was added as a typical symbol.
