The arms were officially granted on April 7, 1982.

The name of the new municipality was based on the Rauhen Ebrach river, which is symbolised by the wavy bar in the arms. The right half shows a black 'Krönel', a special tool used in the mining of sandstone (I have no English name), and symbolises the mining of white and green sandstone in the municipality. The ten points of the tool refer to the ten former municipalities. The left half shows a golden wood shovel, a tool made in large quantities from the beech woods in the municipality. The colours are those of the former rulers in the municipality; red and silver for the State of Würzburg, black and gold for the Lords of Steigerwald.
