Möhringen became a city in the last decade of the 13<sup>th</sup> century, when Bishop Heinrich von Klingenberg granted city rights. The city did not develop, however until the 15<sup>th</sup> century. The arms were granted in 1470 by Emperor Friedrich III, and immediately used in the seals of the city.
