The bridge symbolizes information as the key to a strong defense. Crest: The nine bamboo spears represent the unit’s campaigns in Vietnam while the mount and fountain, a symbol for water, suggest an island, highlighting the unit’s World War II service and campaign in New Guinea.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was authorized on 1 September 1996.
