A gold insignia consisting of a shield, crest and motto scroll. On a blue shield a red bend flanked bytwo godl bendlets between a red dexter hand fimbriated gold and a snake coiled to strike of the last. Attached above the shield on a wreath of alternating gld and blue the dome of the United States Capitol in white in front of a gold rising sun. attached below the shield of gold acred scroll inscribed "We Guard the Peace" in black letters.
Origin/meaning
The blue Shiedl respresents the Infantry origins of the Battalion. The Red Hand and Gold Bendlets charged with the Red Bend commenorate service during World War I. The Red Hand is the emblem of the French 157th Division with which the 372nd Infantry served during the Meuse-Argonne Campaign. The Gold Bendlets and Red Bend indicated the arms of Alsace and Lorraine, and indicates service in those Sectors. The Rattlesanke indicates service on the Mexican Border.
