475TH COMBAT SUPPORT HOSPITAL, US ARMY

A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a maroon cross containing a white cross upon which is centered a narrow maroon cross throughout, and centered thereon a silver five-pointed star upon a green disc; all above a maroon motto scroll bearing in silver letters the words “FOR LIFE.”
Origin/meaning
Maroon and white are the colors associated with the Army Medical Department. The cross is a traditional symbol of medical aid and assistance. The white cross is divided in allusion to the various specialties necessary in the treatment of combat injuries. The green of the disc is a reference to the famous bluegrass of Kentucky and the star relates to the unit’s home base, the capital city of Frankfort.
